So it’s been abnormally cold across the state this week. Everyone is breaking records, and in Fairbanks that means -40 and below. But here we’ve had some brutal winds creating windchill of -30. I love cold and I love wind, but I can’t stand the two together.
So tonight it’s quickly falling in temperature. -12 now, and only getting colder. I don’t think it got above 0 or -5 today (I know this because my nose hairs froze as I walked around campus. That generally means it’s below -5). We are supposed to get a warmer break this weekend, getting into the teens (expect everyone to be in t-shirts), and then we are supposed to have “plummeting temperatures” come Monday again with more wind. I don’t care about these negative days all that much really, but when wind is involved, I draw my line. -30 ish windchill was enough for two days.
Oh well, but all I can say is I’m THRILLED I don’t live in Fairbanks. But this week’s cold as crap temperatures have made moving a pain in the rear end. It’s been a harsh start to the winter. Over a foot and a half of snow within the first week and a half of having snow and then well below average temperatures. Blah, oh well. It’s fun in a weird sort of way.
Hoping to get picture of the new place up soon!
link >So I have news!
So Quinn managed to break his hand when we went sledding on Sunday :( he broke his 3rd metacarpal on his right hand (he’s left-handed) and he’s in a cast. His hand finally doesn’t look like a balloon. But he will be okay!
On a better note, A) we have like, two feet of snow now :)
B) I signed the lease for my very first place!
It’s really really nice :) its right by the university and it’s going to be so nice! I can’t wait to post pictures :)
I’ll have more updates on that soon!
Yay :)
link >Hey everyone!
I just wanted to clarify that I am NOT in the path of this massive storm in western Alaska. The places taking the brunt of the wind and coastal flooding are places like Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island, Unalakleet, Hooper Bay, and Nome. There are many other places, but those are so you get an idea of where. Nome is over 500 miles from here.
We have gotten over a foot of snow in the first week of having snow in town, and temperatures dipped into the negatives last night, and we are expecting more snow, but other than that we are okay.
So please don’t worry, but please hope for friends of mine that are in Nome and other areas of western Alaska! This is no small matter, people. The NWS made a statement saying this is a life-threatening storm of epic magnitude, rarely experienced.
But yup! It’s just snowy and cold over here :)
link >One of my costumes for this Halloween weekend. I’m now in a repertory theatre company called Be Here Now! And we threw a masquerade this past weekend. Here is my ball gown. I made half of it myself, as well as the mask! :)

It’s the second day with snow on the ground here in town! Happy Halloween, everyone! I’ve got my costume to keep me warm!
My dance teacher, Leslie took this of me at the market! I was supporting her organization 1,000 Cranes for Alaska to raise awareness and prevent suicide in rural Alaskan villages!
After a beautiful and wonderful day at the Anchorage Saturday Market, tired and ready to go home!
I wish this picture had a few more of my products in it, but I was dang near sold out by the end of the day!
This was my 5th day at the market!
Mount McKinley on the same day! It’s got to be a great day to see it from town. It just happened to be that kind of day (:
This is an AMAZING picture of the Alaska Rage which is across Cook Inlet from Anchorage. On clear days, you can see the range. This was the last day of summer before class started. It was the clearest I had ever seen it! Such a great way to end the summer.
This was taken on our one year anniversary on August 14th! This was taken at Flat Top, one of my favorite places in town. We took pictures here on the first day I got here, and I wanted to go back on our anniversary (: We had a lovely day!
